About James Cortopassi
James Cortopassi brings over 20 years of eDiscovery experience to his practice as a leader in litigation support and eDiscovery coordination. Mr. Cortopassi has managed thousands of cases involving forensic collections, data processing & hosted solutions, managed document review, ESI productions, trial technology services, and workflow-innovation. Mr. Cortopassi is a member of the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS) and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model Coalition (EDRM).
Even before receiving his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law, James Cortopassi has served as a leader in litigation support and eDiscovery coordination, in New Jersey. With the experience he gained from his education and previous professional roles, James Cortopassi manages eDiscovery projects for his clients, including hosted solutions, imaging, data processing, forensic acquisitions, trial presentations, and demonstratives. James Cortopassi also manages teams of attorneys as they conduct voluminous document reviews and analysis. Finally, he offers technical support, process, and training for the staff, as well as providing workflow solutions.
Before earning his degree, James Cortopassi worked as a Law Clerk for Pope, Bergin, and Verdesco, a Newark, New Jersey-based law firm, for 10 years. In the summer of 2008, just before graduating from law school, Cortopassi served as a Student Lawyer for the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s Office. In less than 6 months, he handled over 50 felony cases, working with pretrial issues, motions, client intake, jail visits, sentencing, and more.
After earning his Juris Doctor from the Michigan State University College of Law, James Cortopassi worked as a Law Clerk for the Okemos, Michigan, law firm, Schram Behan & Behan. After receiving an A grade in Michael Behan’s will drafting class, he was offered the clerkship, which he held from 2008 to 2009. At that time, he returned to New Jersey and assumed his litigation support & eDiscovery services.
